This Markie label has a Chicago address, and vintage is most likely early 1960's, but obviously later than Shelley's hit in the spring of 1962. Category 39 | From Brooklyn New York, this is a great medium tempo teen idol tune from 1962. Brooklyn native Ray Artis was actually Ray Sitra, born in 1943. He later became a country and western singer until his passing in November 1988, according to his son Christopher who emailed me in 2005. | |||||||||||||||||||||

He owned a music store, and worked part time for the Blytheville Police Department. Enjoyed our conversation about music and the business in general at the time he recorded this.
